Welcome To Komaaj
Komaaj is a Northern Iranian cuisine brand focusing on flavors and aroma of Northern region of Iran. Komaaj was born with the mission to create a platform for making a cultural bridge by serving, well-crafted and unique Northern Iranian cuisine with emphasis on regional flavors, and their culinary traditions. Today Komaaj food and its products are prepared and presented in a manner that honors Northern Iran culinary traditions by sourcing seasonal fresh produce, herbs, spices, and products available in the Bay Area that are specific to traditional Northern Iranian gastronomy.
Origins of Komaaj
In this 2024 James Beard nominated documentary, follow Komaaj Executive Chef, Hanif Sadr, on a trip to Iran, and learn about the origins of the Komaaj experience. From foraging in the distinctive green hills of Northern Iran (Shomal), to creating recipes inspired by his upbringing and connection to the diverse Iranian cuisine, this award-winning documentary showcases the Komaaj Project and the motivation behind our commitment to bring traditional Northern Iranian gastronomy to our guests here in Northern California.
