Our Story
For us Komaaj project has never been just about being a restaurant, but a journey to introduce a unique experience of taste, smells and traditions of the region we call home.
Komaaj Food Group, started as a passion project in 2015 by our founding Executive Chef, Hanif Sadr, who as a new immigrant wanted to introduce the rich culinary traditions of the Northern Iranian region and his own family recipes through series of pop-up dining experience in the Bay Area.
Today, Komaaj brand of food and products is committed to creating an ecosystem of its culinary experience representing a unique Northern Iranian cuisine of a region that borders the Caspian Sea surrounded by the high-elevation ranges of Alborz Mountain through our dinning, catering and specialized bazaar products.
At our first brick & mortar location in Mission/Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, we continue to offer our popular rice bowls and wraps for lunch. But we are also introducing a different culinary experience of platter style dishes for dinner at our Mazze Wine Bar for you to share while sipping on our special collection of the Caucasus regional wines and house made non-alcoholic Sharbats that are unique in taste and memorable to experience.
With our brand of Products, Catering and To-Go services we also ensure you can take the Komaaj experience home with you.
Also, keep an eye for our monthly SPEICAL DINNER SERIES that are inspired by Hanif’s famous pop-up dinning events that were the birth of what is today our Komaaj brand food and experience.
